Steven Combest, CFP, is the founder of Combest Wealth Management. With a deep understanding gained from serving in the financial industry for over 20 years, Steven develops individually tailored financial strategies for clients using a planning-based approach.
While studying electrical engineering at Southern Methodist University in Texas, Steven called to apply for a job and accidentally called Merrill Lynch, who was looking to hire an intern. That conversation led to a job offer, taking him onto a completely new path. While working at Merrill Lynch, Steven saw the powerful connection between working in finance and doing good for others. Tapping into his natural desire to serve others, he completed a degree in economics with a minor in psychology, and began his career as a financial advisor. He later completed a rigorous certification program at SMU in financial planning covering 72 Principal Knowledge Topics, and then passed a 6-hour examination to earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. He is licensed in FINRA series 7 and 66 and holds an insurance license.
Working from a place of genuine concern, Steven identifies obstacles that hold clients back from financial success and designs unique ways for them to gain financial independence. Rather than putting minimum requirements on clients, he focuses on how he can help individuals reach their potential through following sound financial guidance and setting reasonable goals. He has a true servant’s heart.
Originally from Wylie, Texas, Steven and his wife Lauren live in a tight-knit community of Dallas with their daughters. He coaches his daughters’ sports teams and keeps an eye on SMU and University of Texas sports. Steven actively participates in his church and is a member of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, an organization that gives back to the community by supporting schools, neighborhood non- profits and first responders.
